Awesome course!! Great views, very unique tee shots, and beautiful overall facility. Greens were super fast when i played there a week ago but ive been when they were nice and lush so it wasnt a big deal to me. Gorgeous course, definitely recommend this place to anyone!

Very good value for the price paid. Amazing fairways, fair bunkers and tricky greens. We had a situation where the weather turned ugly on the back nine....Doug Foss was absolutely fantastic in making sure we left the course satisfied. Being in the hospitality industry, we appreciated the effort and length Doug went to to resolve the issue. Well done !!!!

This course was an awesome experience. Maybe I am just used to playing cheaper courses, but the cart lady came around like 5 times and even gave us extra tees for free! The course is amazing and pretty much every hole has a view of the valley. Can be a little pricey, but it is worth the drive!

Make sure to add this course to your next Phoenix trip. It was well worth the drive to play what ended up being my favorite of the 5 courses I played on my recent trip. Make sure you try the chicken salad sandwich from the bev cart, totally amazing (I had one on the front and another on the back), it's so rare to have real food on a course these days. Way to go Verrado. We all have limited time on our golf trips and choosing the courses is always tough, on my next trip I'll be sure to keep Verrado on my list of ones I'll return too.

I have traveled to Phoenix a number of times and I always make sure to play The Raven Golf Club at Verrado. Of the dozen or so places I have played all over the Valley, Verrado is my favorite. This is truly an outstanding Arizona golf experience. The course is so well integrated into the desert setting. I’d have to say the thing that impressed me the most on this trip was the fact I can’t remember waiting on the group in front of us or being pressed by the group behind us. Amazing considering I know the tee sheet was packed and this is their peak season. I felt like we were the only ones out there; it was fantastic. It is a great course, beautiful setting and outstanding service.

We flew to Phoenix to play 90 holes of golf over 3 days, and Raven at Verrado was the favorite of the threesome. The course conditioning was incredible, greens were fast and true, the guest service was top tier, and the golf course layout and setting were incredible. An absolute must-play.

Just went back out to Verrado and wanted to update my thoughts on one of my favorite spots in the Valley. This place still rocks! From the service, to the course design and views, to the quality post round offerings you can't find much better especially for the value. I just love the vibe there beginning with the practice area & range and then it's the anticipation for that tremendous view off the 3rd tee box. Greens are usually in good shape as are fairways/tee boxes/etc...Can't wait to get back!

Fun course, but Verrado is a long way out if you're coming from the east Valley. Put this course in Scottsdale and they could charge at least $200 a round in peak season. It has some great holes like the short uphill par 4 on the back nine. It also has some great views of the White Tanks and downtown. Verrado is usually in very good shape with generous fairways and nice greens. I'd like to see this course thin out the desert areas. You hit it off the fairway and good luck finding your ball. It's likely in some thick desert brush. Check out the Verrado Ale after your round. It is a solid Pale Ale.

Fist time playing the course and it was worth the drive from Scottsdale. The greens were rolling pretty fast and were hard to hold but putted true. Nice views of the mountains and also of the city.

I played Raven at Verrado on 10/7/2012 and this is just a great layout and facility. The practice facility is top notch, the food excellent, the views very nice. Overall, this is a golf course that is worth playing and highly recommended to anyone looking for a challenging and well worth the investment.

What a treat (understated)!!! After living in Phx for the past 6 years and playing all the other "recommended" courses, which for the most part were disappointing, Verrado, by far, is the best course from top to bottom that I've had the pleasure of playing. I played the tips, but all the tee boxes are fine. The course is very player friendly for any ability of player. Can't believe it took me so long to play such a great golf course. You won't find a course that is as meticulously maintained, I mean, the fairway sprinklers are cut like a cup on the greens...WOW, I am impressed!! The staff is friendly, especially the outside service guys!! Many kudos for allowing me to play an additonal nine with a very nice gentleman I joined after my first nine, a man named Bob, who just retired at Verrado from San Diego. We had a blast. The scenery alone is worth the drive, check out the view from #13 green. Now that I-10 is travelling smoothly, it's a breeze to get there. Please, if you have a chance to play Verrado, in my opinion it's a must play...my top 3 in AZ.

The Raven Golf Club at Verrado By Wes Bolyard If you have never experienced golf at The Raven Golf Club at Verrado, your golf fun meter hasn’t been pegged! On the West side of Phoenix at the site of the old Caterpillar proving ground, a “country village” is being built. In the heart of the 8,000 acres acquired, John Fought and Tom Lehman crafted a wonderful golf course, which opened in January 2004. The front nine weaves around natural washes and skirts a giant rock outcropping. The back nine is up against the base of the WhiteTank Mountains with dramatic elevation changes providing wonderful views all the way to the Superstition Mountains in the far distant East. To find this gem, drive West on I-10 from Phoenix to exit 120 (Verrado Way), and go north. Turn left on Main Street and the Clubhouse is straight ahead. Now the fun begins. With a very attentive staff ready to assist you upon arrival, you will feel like you are at a country club. You will be greeted promptly, your bags are loaded onto a cart, and directions provided if you are new to the course. The spacious clubhouse houses the pro shop which has everything a golfer needs in the way of clothing, hats, balls and golf equipment, and daily lockers. There’s also an excellent restaurant, the Verrado Grille, which provides great food for both golfers and the surrounding community. The Grille offers a menu unparalleled to traditional golf course dining. The restaurant combines impeccable service, a lively atmosphere, and incredible views to provide an unforgettable experience. Additionally, the open patio, unique indoor and outdoor bar, and spacious seating allow for spectacular viewing of the Sonoran Desert sunsets. Live entertainment is provided on Friday and Sunday nights. Jeff Tolan, Food and Beverage Manager, says “We have a wide variety of selections on the menu with a broad appeal. The chef and I designed the menu creating a concept of the Midwest meets the West Coast”. He added that all of the meats served were fresh, not frozen. The Raven Golf Club at Verrado provides a unique inclusive Arizona golf experience. Players enjoy true “member for the day” status with unlimited golf (based on availability), choice of one meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner ordered from Verrado Grille), golf car, use of the driving range, and a snack and non-alcoholic beverage from the refreshment cart. Or, you can just play golf and enjoy the course and the views. Upon arriving at the first tee, you will be greeted by a starter who will give you a Raven bag tag to proudly show others you have been there, and a yardage book with hole by hole information you will want to follow religiously. Watch for strategic bunkering on all holes!! Depending on the tees that you play, you should consult the yardage book, because you may not always want to hit the driver. There isn’t room in this article to describe all the interesting holes on this course, so I narrowed it down to a few of the more exciting ones: Hole number 2, par 4, 397 yards: An uphill shot, with a bunker on the right, a gully on the left and the fairway ending rather dramatically at the gully. You might consider laying up to a safe distance of about 140 yards. This will leave you with another uphill shot, over the ravine. Hole number 3, par 3, 222 yards: With a great view and a downhill drop of approximately 50 feet, there is a generous landing area to the right. Choose your club carefully as this is a BIG green. Hole number 8, par 4, 477 yards: One of several signature holes on the course. A large rock outcropping on the left guards the view to the green and any stray shots to the right will end up in a canyon filled with desert plants. After hitting it long and straight, you will still have a 200 yard shot into a green that is protected by desert on both the left and right. The fairway near the green drops to the left, forcing any errant shot to roll into an unplayable area. Quite a hole, but be careful!! Variety is the theme on the back nine: Hole number 12, par 4, 442 yards: Your tee shot has a very generous landing area, with only one bunker guarding it in the left center. After a good tee shot, you are still left with approximately 150 yards uphill. This is a very tricky green, sloping back to front. Hole number 13, par 4, 310 yards: Now you are thinking to yourself: “I might just drive this green and get an eagle”. It is an uphill shot gaining elevation of about 50 feet with a very narrow fairway. There is desert on both the right and left to capture an errant tee shot, so put that driver away. Use your 5 iron and then a wedge. Be careful of the false front! If you don’t quite get on the green, the ball will run back to you about 25 yards. You are now at the highest point on the golf course; about 200 feet above the clubhouse. What a view! Hole number 14, par 3, 184 yards: A fun hole where you think the ball will never come down. With a drop-off of about 40 feet, you must choose your club carefully. Do not be too far left, as there is a small canyon there, and I have heard there are also some unfriendly tenants. Hole number 18, par 4, 494 yards: Heading to the clubhouse. If the conditions are right and you launch a drive, you can get the ball over the hill and only need a sand wedge to the green. Just stay in the left center of the fairway as there is water on the right side over the hill. You have now just completed one fine round of golf. In this writer’s opinion, the Raven Golf Club at Verrado is the best public course in the greater Phoenix area. It is demanding but yet forgiving; a course that should be on your must-play list. A magnificent course that is very fun to play, with great views, strategic bunkering, interesting rock outcroppings, and elevation changes. In addition, when deciding which course around the valley to play, consider that this one offers the finest value for your hard earned dollars! Developed by DMB, Inc., Verrado is a modern, yet timeless community where you can experience home, town and Arizona. DMB, located in Scottsdale, is one of the premier developers on the west coast. Desert golf course with magnificent views. I didn't shoot the course record...it's a tough course with lots of sand. Great staff and friendly atmosphere and the pace of play was great.

This course is in amazing condition right now. Aside from a few rough spots on the greens on the back 9 it has some of the best conditions I have played in the Valley. Challenging and fair layout with some great elevation changes. Well worth the drive glad I found this gem.

While I live on the other end of the Valley, this place is well worth the drive and I wish I could pick it up and move it into my neighborhood! Several of the holes are memorable and the staff was fantastic upon arrival. I love the ice cold towels on the course which believe it or not did make a difference in the summer heat. Tom Lehman did a wonderful job designing a course that is both challenging but playable with a number of risk/reward holes mixed in with some good ole fashion grinders. The food in the clubhouse is top notch and the greens are some of the best I've played in awhile. Another cool feature is the flyovers from the nearby Air Force base. If you haven't been out to Verrado, you need to put it on your must-play list.

Raven @ Verrado is my favorite of the Ravens. Beautiful desert course that is well taken care of. Some of the holes have great views of the city and Univ of Phx Stadium. Big elevation changes from tee to green on a few holes as well. Course is difficult but very playable if you keep your drives in the fairway. Fairways are very well maintained and greens are rarely in need of help. There undulations in most of the greens making your reads just that much more important to score well. With the Town of Verrado surrounding the course, it makes this area very appealing to live in! After the round, go down to Grazie on Main St (about 1500ft east of the clubhouse) for some pizza & wine / beer.
