Played Devils Claw and it is in fantastic condition. Greens are running fast and smooth. We got lucky with our afternoon tee time as we were 1st tee time after a morning shotgun tournament. 3 of us played in 2:45. Left plenty of time for a cold beer, they have a good selection of drafts to choose from. I have played both courses at Whirlwind many times and the are always in good condition which is my 1st priority.

Recently played Whirlwind (Cattail) over Memorial Day weekend for the first time. The course was in magnificent condition, though I was at a private country club. Tees, Fairways, and greens were all excellent, and the greens putted wonderfully. Course is fairly wide open and if you play the right tee box, traps come into play off the tee. Many large greens and a good mixture of both long and short holes. The only drawback was that the girls on the beverage cart are snotty and stuck-up. They seemed to have a bad attitude, and acted like they were doing you a favor by stopping. If you can avoid the beer girls, you should enjoy the course.

Played the Cattail course twice in the last few weeks and it in great condition. Staff are friendly. Great practice range.

This course has been in amazing shape since last May. Even right after the overseed, the course, while slow, was in great shape. The staff is always accommodating, and friendly. The range and practice facilities are awesome. Devil's Claw is slightly easier in my opinion because the par 5's are shorter. The Cattail has longer par 5's, and the par 3's are difficult but both courses are awesome.

Really enjoyed playing Whirlwind for the first time. It instantly became one of my favorite courses. Desert landscape courses always give me a hard time but the way the course is constructed, if you hit the fairways, you have a great opportunity to score well. Loved every second of it.

Played an early July round on the Devils Claw course. The conditions were exceptional in all areas-great fairways, well defined rough, quality bunkers, and greens that rolled true. In total, some of the best conditions I have seen in the summer in Phoenix. Played at a perfect pace of 3 1/2 hours. Afterwards, the grill is comfortable with a good menu. Whirlwind has open views and presents a healthy challenge. I would call it a great choice this summer for Phoenix golf.

Played this course on 06/29 when the temp was 115, what was I thinking. The course was in terrific shape, probably the best course i have played in the Phoenix area condition wise this year. The fairways were wonderful and the greens were in perfect condition, running smooth and fast. Played the Devils Claw course as Cattail was closed for maintenance. I would like another crack at Devils Claw as this was my first time there. Course was fun and I think you could score well there. Plus the cart girls are awfully good!

Made the trip down to Whirlwind last week to take advantage of the great golfing weather. We have played the Cattail course many times and it has become one of my favorite tracks in the valley. The layout has lots of variety from the short, and on occasion, drivable par four 5th to the 550 yd 5 par number 12. You can play this course a lot and enjoy it each and every time. My favorite hole maybe the short par 3 number 15 which reminds you of the 12th at Augusta. Also, a side note, the greens are in perfect condition, and they have a great lunch for after the game experience. Definitely recommend!

Both of the golf courses at Whirlwind are great tracks and alot of fun. I prefer the Devil's Claw course over the Cattail. I think the Devil's Claw course is just more fun to play, Cattail has a few holes on it which I think are kind of silly. Also, the course routing on Cattail makes it seem like you are on the course forever no matter how fast you are playing. Both courses are always in great shape, and the staff at Whirlwind is awesome to work with.
